What is Freediving?

Freediving, also often called Apnea, is an ancient practice that allows us to explore the underwater world on a single breath, connecting with the ocean in a deeply immersive and exhilarating way.

Unlike scuba diving, which relies on a lot of equipment, freediving requires nothing more than a mask, fins, and a deep breath.

A journey of self-discovery and exploration

While often seen as an extreme sport, it is actually more a journey of self-discovery and exploration, as we learn to control our breath, relax our bodies, and descend into the depths. Freediving offers a unique feeling of sense of freedom and tranquility as we dive through the water, surrounded by the beauty of the sea.

At its core, freediving is more than just a sport – it is a lifestyle. It is about embracing the unknown, pushing boundaries, and embracing the beauty of the underwater world.

Experience the joy of freediving in Ibiza with your expert freediving instructor Anna Thüring.

She has always been a freediver without knowing – holding her breath and trying to dive to the bottom of the sea was her favorite thing to do as a child.

I absolutely loved training with Anna. She quite literally made me fall in love with freediving. When we first talked about it, my response was, “I’d rather die than try freediving!” But this is exactly where Anna’s strengths shine: her deep knowledge, her compassion, and the way she gently took every fear away. Thanks to her, I’ve found a whole new way to connect with the ocean that I never knew I was missing. I’ve lived near the coast for 14 years, but I didn’t realize how profound it could be to experience that ‘blue mind’ feeling of holding my breath underwater.
